Covid-19 Update St. John, USVI, July 2nd, 2020
St. John is holding steady with only 4 cases in total. Most new cases were on St. Croix with a few on St. Thomas
Governor Bryan announcing pre-emptive measures for holiday weekend.
From Friday July 3rd to Sunday 5th, 2020: Beaches close 4pm. He said: “Start packing at 3pm!”. Beaches re-open at 6am.
Starting tonight until further notice all bars have to close at midnight with last call 11pm. No alcohol can be sold in bars or in stores after 11pm.
Covid 19 test for travelers from hotspots
There was nothing about that in the official part of the announced measures (only testing of limetree bay workers St. Croix). In the Q&A part a reporter asked if that was being considered and Governor Bryan said a list of areas is being compiled and they would need to show a negative test from past 72 hours or be tested and quarantined upon arrival. Maybe he will announce more details on Monday’s 1pm press conference. In any case if that goes into effect there will most likely be a transition period.
Puerto Rico announced such measures on June30 and they go into effect on July 15th.
But no matter what the rule is and when it goes into effect, getting tested before travel to the USVI with their fragile healthcare is a good idea and the right thing to do to protect the islands you love.
