Hansen Bay is located on the eastern end of the island of St. John. Most people refer to the area simply as East End.
Taking Route 10 East, it is roughly 11 miles from the ferry dock in Cruz Bay. It is just three hills over once you reach Haulover Bay.
St. John Camping: Beach Front!
Camping right on the beach front offers you a real advantage. You can enjoy the gentle sound of the surf as you relax as well as access to swimming, snorkeling or just sunning on the sand. There’s also nearby trails for hiking.
They provide tents or bare spots. Reservations preferred but not required.
About Vie’s on St. John
Violet Sewer Mahabir, legendarily known as “Vie’s” has been operating her businesses in East End Hansen Bay since 1979. Her family roots go as far back as the late 1700’s. She was born and raised in East End Hansen Bay on the beautiful island of St. John. Vie began Vie’s Snack Shack first in 1979 with a simple ice chest selling cold drinks from under her old Tamarind Tree to anyone who would drive. After a year of savings from selling ice cold drinks, Vie was able to build what is today called “Vie’s Snack Shack”. It is a small and simple unique structure. It was during this time that Vie created and began selling her famous Garlic Chicken with honey drizzled Johnny cakes. As her customers increased, Vie began adding more items to her menu. Her scrumptious conch fritters are wonderful. Vie also allows her guests access to the family beach for a small fee of $2.50 per person. This beach is great for snorkelling and sun bathing.
In the early 1980’s, Vie then began her next venture of operating a campground. Today the campground is named “Hansen Bay Campground”. This beachfront property is wonderful for a campground
